August 21st proposed Date

After careful thought and consultation with other racers we are proposing that Pierre's Race be in August, on the 21st. The major conflict we have is with the Breck Epic.
Please chirp in with some opinion if you are planning on Pierre's.

  1. Late August and early Sept in general is stacked with enduro events this year. You have the Breck Epic Stage Race, Pierre's Hole 100, then the Park City Point to Point. Sonya and I are signed up to race Duo at the Breck-Epic Stage Race. Personally, I would be all for a early to mid June event. June seems to be a dead month for events this year. July, Aug, and Sept...there are events just about every weekend.

Just my 2¢. I'll support the event...and spread the word.

  2. I am with Jeff for sure. Bad news for an early event is all the snow you guys have had this year which might not be melted off by then. Already planning the Park City Point to Point, in the lottery for Leadville Aug 14th. I hope whatever you decide can work out for the majority of riders! I hope to be one of them this year or next!

  3. The Targhee trails are barely ridable by July 4th so a June race would be too risky. I like the August 21st date and hope that this race evolves into the anti-Leadville. July is even more crowded than August for endurance racers in the west.

  4. Is there a problem with Sept/Oct? Seems like nothing other than pisgah...

Better yet, schedule on the same day as Leadville. If they are turning away hundreds of riders shouldn't be trouble getting them to come to you!

I plan to be at Breck Epic again... sorry!

  5. I was hoping to get into Leadville, but I have not gotten my magic email yet...I will come do your race. Looks sweet!

  6. Troy, I am signed up to do the Breck Epic. I want to do Pierre Hole but the Aug 21 date will not work for me personally since the Epic starts the next day. I think a mid July date after the Cream Puff would be perfect for a majority of endurance racers.

  7. The discussion of July 24th for Pierre's was an option. It conflicts with Galena and follows the CCC100 and possibly conflicts with the Laramie Enduro.

  8. Troy, I'm also doing the Breck Epic so the date conflicts with my schedule. I like the July 24th date!

  9. HAHA well put Dave, because I do believe this just became my anti-Leadville race as I was just denied this afternoon!

  10. Looking forward to this race.
Anti-leadville is a good angle to rock, especially after the rejection emails telling everyone that the only way to get into the race now was with a $1250 bribe via CTS. August 14th would work too as everyone who got denied from Pbville already have the time off!
Looks like a great time and cool course.

  11. We cannot do the 14th, due to Bluegrass Festival at GTR. Maybe the 7th?

  12. Yikes... the 21st was better!

  13. July 4 – Firecracker 50
    July 11 – Cream Puff 100
    July 17 – Breck 100
July 24 – Galena Grinder (Marathon)
    July 31 – Laramie Enduro 111K

Here are some of the July events, I would like to stay out of these dates. Therefore, we are looking at August.

  14. It is looking like the August 21st date is on. Our only other choice is the 7th.

  15. What about late September (after the 11th)? Just before snow!
